Alex Story

Senior Advisor

Referred to as an “Enlightenment man” by Michael Bloomberg’s deputy in Europe, Alex is an Olympian with a passion for finance, macro-economics and political economy.

Alex started his career in Finance at Societe Generale over a decade ago. Since that time he has worked for large financial institutions and smaller single family offices with the aim of building extensive relationships, growing revenues and raising capital, most recently as Managing Director, Head of Cross Asset Sales at Aurel Partners, and before that, as Head of Business Development for Disruptive Capital Finance in London.   

In addition, he stood for political office, being invited to represent the people of Yorkshire and Humber in the European Parliament in 2016, as well as pursuing his candidacy for British Member of Parliament for Leeds North West in 2015, Wakefield in 2010 and for Denton & Reddish in 2005, all on behalf of the Conservative Party.   

Story rowed for Great Britain as a junior, an under-23 and a senior athlete. His career spanned from 1992 to 1998, with Story competing in the men's eight for Great Britain in the 1996 Summer Olympics.  He rowed and was victorious for Cambridge against Oxford in the Boat Races of 1997 and 1998, with the latter crew still holding the course record. 

Alex writes opinion columns for The Daily Telegraph, The Wall Street Journal and several other national and international print newspapers.  He is trilingual, married with four children, and holds a BA and an MBA from Cambridge University.
