Alex Kafka
Senior Advisor
Alex Kafka is a Private Equity industry veteran that has held several senior positions, including Head of Private Equity at Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), where he spent 6 years and was responsible for its $5bn private equity fund and co-investment programme.
Previously, Alex worked for several prominent private equity and venture capital funds and financial advisors in New York, London, Berlin, Frankfurt, and Amsterdam, including Compass Partners, Insight Capital Partners and Freitag & Co. He started his career as an investment banker at Salomon Brothers in New York.
Alex currently owns Calaisco, an independent advisory and investment firm focused on providing strategic advice on M&A, restructuring, and capital raising activities. The firm has invested in a number of start-up technology firms, primarily as an angel investor.
He has sat on the advisory boards of numerous pre-eminent Private Equity funds, including AEA, Carlyle Europe, Investcorp Gulf Opportunities Fund, and Credit Suisse EMCO.
Alex is a German national. He holds a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude from Macalester College. He has lived and travelled extensively in Asia, Africa, Europe and North America.
