Rich Laxer

Senior Advisor

Rich Laxer served as a senior executive at General Electric (GE) for over 34 years in London, Tokyo and the United States, latterly as Chairman and CEO of GE Capital. He played key roles in the company’s financial services and capital markets operations.

During his time as CEO of GE Capital Solutions, President and CEO of GE Capital International, and Chairman and CEO of GE Capital, Laxer was instrumental in steering the company’s financial services arm through periods of market fluctuation and regulatory challenges, particularly during and after the 2008 global financial crisis. He oversaw the completion of the GE Capital Disposition Program and transition of 50,000 employees to new roles within GE or externally.

Rich Laxer is recognized for his strategic leadership during pivotal times for GE Capital, especially in international markets. He managed complex financial portfolios and oversaw the company’s global operations, helping GE navigate through challenging economic conditions. His tenure was marked by efforts to adapt the financial services division to regulatory changes and evolving market needs.

Born in the United States, Laxer graduated from Skidmore College gaining a Bachelor’s degree in Business, with a minor in Economics. He spends his time between the US and the UK, and currently serves as Senior Advisor to Warburg Pincus, as well as serving on the Boards of Aion Bank, Cross River, Kindred for Business, Leonteq, Vodeno and Singular Bank.
